Our Story
Lakes + Lumber was born in 2020 with the idea of it being a side hustle and creative outlet during the early days of the global pandemic. With your continued support, it has since blossomed into a full time business that offers custom wood signs and luxury party rental decor. We are immensely grateful and can’t wait to see what the future has in store.
AMANDA
Hey friends, I’m Amanda! Like many other makers, my love for crafting exploded when I was gifted a Cricut many moons ago. Originally it was gifted as a tool to help make cards, but I have yet to make a single card with this introductory machine. Instead, I started creating stencils and applying them to wood to help create designs of my liking. Little did I know this would just be the beginning…
I’ve been around woodworking my whole life with my Dad being a carpenter – you could say I was a little excited to finally take control of the power tools myself! [*insert Tim the Toolman Taylor grunt*] I am a fully self taught woodworker with the help of my husband, Dad, and the tride and true YouTube school of woodworking. I am a testament that anyone, no matter their level of experience, can work with power tools.
I had the priviledge of growing up watching my Dad become an entrepreneur. He left his corportate job and pursued his passion for construction and renovations. Although I didnt think much of it at the time, watching him chase his dreams impacted me in a way I will always be greatful for. I saw all of my parents work hard their whole life and because of that I have been blessed with a “can-do” attitude. Hard work pays off, my friends, but I’ve come to learn over the years that balance is the key.
My biggest joy is being a Mom. My husband and I have two kids who are very active and keep us on our toes. They are often admiring the signs you order well before you get a first glace. They are witnesses to the love and effort I pour into this art. They are always willing to lend a helping hand and really put the meaning behind “family business”. At the end of the day, I know they are truly my biggest cheerleaders.
Thank you for supporting me, and in doing so, directly supporting my family. You are the reason I can be so present in my children’s lives, while also fulfilling a need to create that has always dwelled inside of my soul.
